Unclaimed Deposit Database

Use this page to search for unclaimed deposits you may have with the City of Vancouver, and learn how to request a claim. Examples of deposits include damage and shoring deposits. Rental deposits are not included.

This database is in accordance with the Unclaimed Property Act of BC.

How to search

  • For businesses, enter the business name
  • For individuals, enter your last name first (Smith, Jane)

How to claim a deposit

Email unclaimed.deposits@vancouver.ca with your:
  • Name, phone number, email address, and mailing address
  • Permit number or permit location address associated with the deposit
  • Deposit number from the search results
Additional documentation may be requested to support your claim including, but not limited to:
  • Proof of identity or status
    • Government issued photo ID (driver’s licence, passport)
    • Type and status of your business (active or dissolved corporation, etc.)
  • Proof of claim to the deposit
  • If applicable, proof that the claimant resides or resided at the address we have on record associated with the deposit

Claim verification

Verification may take 4 to 6 weeks. Once verified, a refund cheque will be mailed out. We will contact you with confirmation of your claim as soon as it is approved.
