These various site-enhancement projects created a beautiful, inspiring and "made-by-hand' environment. Community members involved took leadership of park projects under guidance and assistance from the lead artist on site. Projects included a collaborative fence weaving, a handmade rain catchment feature, wall mounted walking-spinning wheel for outdoor spinning sessions and refurbished picnic tables in work bays.In addition to project dates with specific community members, supportive social maker sessions facilitated informal evening drop-in times. Anyone wandering by could participate in the various projects from sanding tables to building a wheel, learning to carve, or crocheting & weaving local fibres.
All of this joint action by participants coming together to work- the time spent in this common pursuit- is the physical action of how the artists think we weave our social fabric. Working together in the park they turned industrial shipping containers into a creative meeting place - the 'community outdoor living room.'
