Lead by the stewards at the Environmental Youth Alliance, the orchard space played host to over 100 local youth from both the RayCam and Strathcona Community Centre. These youth planted and maintain the Community Orchard, developing an understanding of, and deeper connection to, their local ecology.The Community Orchard has also connected with the Vancouver Food Bank and their sister organization Fresh Choice Community Kitchens. Working through project Coordinators with the Environmental Youth Alliance, the Food Bank helped recruit volunteer support for work parties on site throughout the spring, summer and fall of 2010.
