Description

This was a project led and developed by community members, in partnership
with the West End Seniors’ Network (WESN) to: increase food production
and support local pollinators; foster connections between residents, and;
create a physical legacy of work done by a group of West End residents
working to reduce their ecological footprints. They built communal
garden boxes, planter boxes to grow food, and pollinator attractants. These support four mason bee boxes that have been installed around the neighbourhood. To encourage enhanced intergenerational
neighbourhood connection and communication, the planters will incorporate
seating and be wheelchair accessible, encouraging community members to
mingle and learn about pollination and local food
