The Seniors Pod is an extension of RCSS' "Boulevard Gardens Project." Situated in a prime location where seniors frequent and access numerous services, the implementation of another outdoor seating and program area has greatly benefited the community. They've found that the animation of a green space has dramatically increased the accessibility for seniors using walkers, canes, and wheelchairs. The project is a collaoboration with Three Links Care Society. Their collective vision was to create an accessible and engaging seating area on the boulevard that would further contribute to creating a senior-friendly block. It also included a table with a transparent top to allow for community partners to promote their activities and inform seniors and their families of resources available to them. In addition, the seating is spacious enough for mobility aids to maneuver around. Staff from both centres have the opportunity to accompany residents and visiting seniors outdoors to the boulevard for fresh air and community engagement opportunities.Medium/discipline of Project
