Description

Evergreen delivered a series of workshops and work parties at the Vancouver City Hall Community Garden to instill a sense of ownership and pride for the space, while creating a sense of an urban oasis. Working with community gardeners, residents, youth and a local wood worker, local artist and a volunteer landscape designer, Evergreen built planter boxes, benches and perimeter beds, and installed stepping stones and prayer flags on site. In May 2010, a Community Planting and Arts Celebration was held to showcase the new elements of the garden, and educate the community on local food security and gardening for pollinators via performance artist, Lori Weidenhammer, who was in character as Queen Bee.
